Pink Bourbon – Washed
At 23, Iván has already established his own coffee farm in San Agustín, southern Huila, after moving there from his family’s farm in Teruel at 16. His father purchased land in Los Cauchos and gave Iván 3.5 hectares of fallow land, which he began developing with the help of a local neighbor. Together, they shared the investment, combining Iván’s land with his partner’s labor and experience.
At 1,800 masl, they consulted a local quality analyst and planted 1.5 hectares equally with Papayo, Pink Bourbon, and Gesha. So far, Papayo and Pink Bourbon have shown the strongest combination of productivity and quality, while Gesha has been more challenging to cultivate. Iván is now planning to establish another hectare, most likely with Pink Bourbon, which he considers more resistant to pests and a promising variety for the farm’s future.
